The South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association (SCEDA) is excited to announce its upcoming Member Meeting, a premier event designed to bring together economic development professionals from across the state. The meeting will feature a dynamic lineup of speakers, important industry discussions, and a special recognition of leadership excellence.
Scheduled for February 10th, the meeting will open with remarks from SCEDA President Rick Farmer, who will share updates and provide his perspective on the association’s priorities and the evolving economic landscape in South Carolina.
One of the event’s highlights will be the “Fireside chat on the economic impact of tariffs,” led by esteemed experts Gerald McDermott and William R. Hauk, Jr. from the USC Darla Moore School of Business. Their insights will shed light on how tariffs are influencing trade, business operations, and the overall economy in South Carolina and beyond. Another critical topic on the agenda is a presentation by Myra Reese from the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services. Her session, titled “DES Reorganization and Permitting,” will provide valuable updates on recent changes within the department and their implications for businesses and economic developers navigating environmental regulations.
In addition to these informative sessions, SCEDA will present its prestigious Legislative Champion Award to Senator Tom Davis.
The meeting will conclude with a networking reception, giving attendees the opportunity to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and strengthen relationships within South Carolina’s vibrant economic development community.
