The South Carolina Economic Development Institute (The Institute), formerly known as The South Carolina Economic Development School (SCEDS), offers a highly interactive curriculum to participants, affording them a greater “hands-on” economic development learning experience.
The Institute, a thirty-two-year partnership between the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association, has graduated more than 1,375 participants since its inception. The Institute serves to educate those who support and participate in economic development activities in their communities while providing unique and innovative development approaches for implementation in local communities.
Attendees who successfully complete each of the Institute’s four one and a half day sessions will earn a Certificate of Completion.
The four sessions are held around the state. SCEDA offers a scholarship for The Institute in honor of Irwin Maceo Nance. SCEDA will pay up to $2500 for registration, transportation, lodging and meals while attending the program. The cost of the program is $1800.00 The Institute registration for the 2024 Program will open in November.
