Minimum Education - A Bachelor’s Degree from and accredited university business administration, geography, economics or a related discipline. Three to five years of direct experience in economic development.

 

Minimum Qualification - Valid SC Driver's License

Description:

 

Job Purpose: This position serves as the primary point of contact between the Economic Development Department and existing private sector business and industrial firms located in the Lexington County. This position implements programs and services that have a direct impact on the retention and expansion of existing employers in the County and ensures that existing employers are aware of programs and services available through educational partners and technical assistance providers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the Economic Development Department’s existing business and industry retention and expansion efforts
- Creates and maintains electronic and hard copy databases on existing employers in the County to include key executives, product/service offerings, employment levels, physical plant parameters, key suppliers, key end customers and other related data
- Conducts face-to-face interviews with key executive(s) of Lexington County’s major employers at least once every 12 months and the medium-sized firms once every 18-24 months. Coordinates with Economic Development Director and Manager, regional and state allies on these visits as appropriate. Compiles reports on the findings from each interview and produces periodic summary reports of all visits
- Plans and delivers formal seminars, information sharing events and other outreach programs aimed at the industrial audience in Lexington County
- Oversees the County’s annual business, industry and ally appreciation golf tournament
- Represents Lexington County in the planning and implementation for the annual B2B Supplier Event hosted by Lexington County Economic Development and Richland County Economic Development
- Assists in the planning and implementation of existing business and industry recognition/appreciation events
- Collects, maintains and disseminates data and information on the conduct of business in Lexington County and the State of South Carolina on a broad range of subject areas, included but not limited to economic development incentives, state and local tax policies, workforce availability, prevailing wages and fringe benefits, demographic and socio-economic data, commuting patterns, etc
- Assists in the development and implementation of marketing programs and coordinating print material aimed at existing employers in the County to encourage them to expand their operations. Coordinates marketing efforts with local, regional as statewide allies as appropriate
- Assists the Director in the development of budgets relating to the above activities
- Participates in the Midlands Business Service Team meetings and other related workforce committees, meetings and programs
