Job Title: Director of Project Management 

Reports to: VP, Industrial Development 

Location: Spartanburg, SC 

FLSA Classification: Exempt



The Director of Project Management assists with recruiting new companies and real estate projects within the incorporated and unincorporated areas of Spartanburg, SC. The Director fulfils project management for assigned prospects and projects, and tracks data using an internal software system to allow for analysis and monitoring of projects. 


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties and tasks to be performed

  • Manage prospect and project responses and timelines with complete confidentiality. Assemble information and coordinate responses for assigned prospects and projects. Manage and maintain ERP databases and platforms ensuring accurate and current information. (40%)
  • Facilitate project visits and provide related follow-up information. (20%)
  • Assist in the development of new sites and buildings in the incorporated and unincorporated areas of Spartanburg County. Assist with retail and commercial inquiries and site selection in the City of Spartanburg. (20%)
  • Responsible for networking with South Carolina Department of Commerce, Consultants, Economic Development Professionals, and other centers of influence for the recruitment and management of projects. (10%)
  • Participate in marketing trips outside of area to recruit new companies and developers. (5%)
  • Additional duties as assigned. (5%) 


ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Minimum requirements to perform this role 

  • 2-5 years working within an organization that develops pathways for companies to invest in communities, developing jobs and/or an economic development entity.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation). 
  • Strong business acumen. 
  • Proven track record of exceptional customer service. 
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships. 
  • Aptitude to work under pressure and within established guidelines. 
  • Ability to work both independently and on diverse and dynamic teams. 
  • Proficient using all MS office programs. 
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends to accommodate after hours meeting and events. 
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. 


BENEFICIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Ideal candidate will have these skills, education, experience

  • Five (5) years of exemplary training and experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor or greater degree in business, economics, finance, real-estate, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with volunteer boards or non-profits.
