Job Title: Economic Development Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Economic Development Project Management assists with recruiting new companies, assisting existing industry, real estate projects and grant information for Horry County, SC. The position fulfils project management for assigned prospects and projects, and tracks data using an internal software system to allow for analysis and monitoring of projects. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties and tasks to be performed

  • Manage prospect and project responses and timelines with complete confidentiality. Assemble information and coordinate responses for assigned prospects and projects. Manage and maintain Salesforce and platforms ensuring accurate and current information.
  • Facilitate project visits and provide related follow-up information.
  • Assist in the development of new sites and buildings in Horry County.
  • Responsible for networking with South Carolina Department of Commerce, Consultants, Economic Development Professionals, and other centers of influence for the recruitment and management of projects.
  • Participate in marketing trips outside of area to recruit new companies and developers.
  • Reporting of job numbers and capital investment from companies on a quarterly basis.
  • Assist companies with grant requests, fillings and deadlines.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Minimum requirements to perform this role 

  • 2-5 years working within an organization that develops pathways for companies to invest in communities, developing jobs and/or an economic development entity.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation). 
  • Strong business acumen. 
  • Proven track record of exceptional customer service. 
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships. 
  • Aptitude to work under pressure and within established guidelines. 
  • Ability to work both independently and on diverse and dynamic teams. 
  • Proficient using all MS office programs. 
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends to accommodate after hours meeting and events. 
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. 

BENEFICIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Ideal candidate will have these skills, education, experience

  • Five (5) years of exemplary training and experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor or greater degree in business, economics, finance, real-estate, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in economic development, finance, grant writing, real estate or planning.
