We need your help. We need you to call your local House member or Senator.
You told us that funding for Industrial Site Readiness is vital to our State’s success. The SCEDA Board agrees and has been working a strategy to obtain funding.
However, we need you to take a moment to text, email or call your legislator to ask them to request funding for this vital issue. And, ask them to talk to their other colleagues on House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committee about the importance of this funding.
Your call to your legislator can make all the difference.
SCEDA has asked the Governor and leadership in the General Assembly to support $150M for Industrial Site Readiness, which is the same request that SC Commerce has made.
Here is some messaging that you can use:
- Funding for Industrial Site Readiness, also known as shovel-ready sites, will help catch South Carolina up with its neighboring states.
- Neighboring states have spent tens and hundreds of millions on shovel-ready sites, including neighboring states of North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi and Alabama. We are asking for $150M to start catching up. Click here for a map showing investments made by our competitors in recent years. Please feel free to share this information with them during your conversations.
- With so much competition among the States, including the Southeastern and Eastern states, it is imperative that South Carolina provide funding so that South Carolina remain competitive for new and expanding businesses, as well as help industry accelerate its time to go to market, with has become more essential per professional site selection officials.
